Liebe Yogis,
I lied and said i was busy.
I was busy, but not in a way most
people understand. I was busy
taking deeper breaths. I was busy
silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself i am okay.
Sometimes, this is my busy,
and i will not apologize for it.
- Brittin Oakman
Lately, and only sometimes, i get to the end of my day and wonder why i feel tired. When i look back on my day usually
i havent been on a huge hike, or raced around doing errands, nor have i been stuck to my computer all day. Yet nevertheless i am
so happy when finally my head touches my pillow, i can give my dson and aughter a cuddle, read (if i can keep my eyes open long enough), then
happily `call it a day!´. When i play the guilt card with my friends they remind me that i am way too hard on myself, and that actually i
am `doing´alot. This little message above is a deep reminder that inner work can be just as tiring as working the role of house owner; business
owner, teacher, mother.....etc...and that being present to give my energy wholeheartedly in the form of teaching requires inner work first.
A genuine yoga practice never claims to be easy. Some days it asks for more of your attention than you could possibly want to give, other days
you might seemlessly ride through the day and feel on top of things and joyously claim your enlightenment to the world (or at least to yourself).
For sure, and there is no doubt in my mind, that having a good sense of humour will make the Roller Coaster ride towards Nirvana way more
fun!
Currently for me, yoga is about breaking through old habits of thinking and believing by deliberately reprogramming my thought waves. This takes diligent
practice, for the mind is mostly set in its ways and can feel like hard concrete when we start to look more closely. If we dont take a U-turn and look straight into its core we will find ourselves repeating over and over again the same old habits and we will feel at some point frozen in time. We will wonder why we are still at the same place we were 10 years ago (figuratively speaking).
Yoga teaches us that we are way more than just this physical body. The practice of yoga cultivates the mind to see this truth more clearly, and it guides us towards embracing this truth at the cellular level. However that yoga looks will be different for the practitioner. No one method is better or worse than the other, for it is really in the how we practice which makes all the difference.
So my days have been busy - but not in a way most people understand....
I have been busy listening to my thoughts.
I have been busy re-programming negativity towards positivity.
I have been busy re- training my cells to work more efficiently,
and loving myself unconditionally.
I have been busy telling myself immediate results are unlikely -
that re-programming takes time.
I have also been occupied with reminding myself not to practice for the
results but to learn more about myself along the way.
I have been busy clearing old baggage that no longer serves,
and i have been busy in Downward facing dog pose.
I have given time to meditation, visualisation and hypnosis...
And just before you wonder....no, i am not a basket case,
i actually feel completely blessed and grateful with my life thus far -
and i am actually quite a happy person.
I simply want to experiment - why think smal!l when i can think big?
What is possible?
I believe, when conditions are right - anything is possible, and
nothing at all is impossible.
Thoughts for the day....may this give you courage to stay on the path - no matter how rocky it looks sometimes.
blessings, Kira
