Liebe Yogis,
Back from retreat and boooom, one is immediately thrown back into daily life. The challenge is to bring the energy of rest back into ones life while managing job/ kids/relationships/ creative time/study time etc...Its not easy - it takes conscious effort, and regular reminders, and self reflective moments. If we are not careful, as we tread a spiritual path we might become hooked on hopping from retreat to retreat, workshop to workshop, or one training to the next...drinking in the ecstacy of personal time without being able to integrate it into our normal every day life when we return. We literally become drunk on spiritual seeking. Of course the knowledge we gain from these intensives is wonderful....although knowledge usually remains just that, unless we allow time to embody the information at a cellular level (which might take some years!). In our fast modern world it might seem necessary to keep up, to keep running, keep learning...for where will we be if we slow down and smell the flowers? Going on Retreat might be just the right thing to re-set, re- wire and start fresh.
I notice today i am tired, and easily grumpy....(only 3 days home) but recognition is the first step to freedom, so its a good thing. I have fallen short on many occasions today, but to sit and wallow in self judgement is also not helpful. Really all there is to do is press the re-set button (ie- soften into what is, breathe with that, embrace my own short comings, consciously slow down, listen to the birds, and forgive myself)....along the way there might be need of an apology.
For sure ANOTHER retreat would be wonderful, but not really practical and probably not useful in learning how to skip and dance through daily life. Perhaps a challenge for a yogi is to realise we cannot be perfect all the time...nor can we be `yogic´all of the time...but we can exercise the muscle of witnessing our actions and reactions and learn to navigate our way through all the colourful emotions and thoughts that keep streaming through at light speed. The more we witness the more skilful we become at catching a moment that is not serving our higher Self. Then we have struck gold...for it is in this moment that we have a choice...which path will you take for your health and well-being, and that of your wider community???
