Liebe Yoginis & Yogis,
Home sweet home.! For those of you who didn´t know, i was on a Mindful birthing retreat outside San Francisco for a week! Phew what a ride!
With many experiences, it can be hard to capture the essence without missing something along the way.... highlights? There were many.... from a full
day sightseeing in San Francisco; to 5 nights at a beautiful retreat centre with a breathtaking landscape and daily Deer sightings; hot tub; food to die for; and
deep friendships made.
With time to reflect, meditate, move, breathe, learn, it is hard not to come back somewhat changed....new insights, new look on life and a personal promise to
implement some changes.....
As is the ususal case upon return, family members have not been on retreat..... life returns and BAM you are back to reality. How to handle daily and unforseen
hurdles that throw you back into our technological and caotic era in a flash? If one is not careful, gone is the peace and insight so carefully grown and nurtured on retreat.
Sound familiar? Even a day away from the usual can create a certain shift in awareness and a lack of desire to return to busy-ness.
What i did notice is that i was able to manage what came up with a little more relaxation. Doing what was most necessary NOW and leaving out all those OTHER things
i thought i might have managed on my first day back. Seeing what was infront of my eyes and diving in with full presence. This is not to say emotions of all colours and energies didnt come up..... annoyance/ frustration/ anger/ laughter/ amusement/ relief/ happiness/ wanting things to be other than they were type thoughts/ acceptance....I mean seriously, did my kids have to have head lice on my first day back?
Practicing and being a long practitioner of Yoga /mediation - if you havent already discovered - doesnt mean that you wont have all kinds of colourful emotions. It doesnt mean you should be able to stop negativity from arising. It simply means we are building a certain kind of resistance to reacting to them when they do arise; and having a tool box , so to say, to open and use in order to - a) acknowledge these emotions and thoughts; and b) manage them.
And i mean - sometimes we just wanna FREAK OUT (MINDFULLY- if at all possible) ! Letting that be ok IS ok!! and somewhat liberating.
Whats in the tool box? Well, our breath for starters....self observation for another....a reasonable amount of humour goes a long way too.... oh and whats that word? Acceptance.... ohhhhh theres a lifetime of practice just in that sentence alone!
So, if youre still reading this (for those days seem long gone when we take the time to read) i wish you, above all, patience with yourself, and simply the energy to keep on going, one step at a time, with the one constant we can rely on....our practice. Namaste.

also: ALL 10-er blocks sold on saturday will be 20% cheaper.... max. 1 block per person / sale hours 8:15-8:55 AND 10:45-11:30. Memberships must be valid to use member 10-er blocks! We look forward for you to take advantage of this discount!
