Baby Massage & restorative yoga

with KIRA

Baby massage for infants from 6 weeks to 10 months. In a safe and nurturing environment this is a beautiful time to introduce healthy skin-to-skin touch with your baby. This is a class which offers you specific techniques to massage your baby appropriately and safely for which you can then take these skills home with you and practice at a time suitable to you both. At the end of the massage session there will be some time for Restorative Yoga - postures to rest and restore you body, mind and soul.

  • Interative time with your baby - to play, bond, &  share skin-to-skin touch
  • Soft massage techniques directly on your baby´s skin 
  • TIme to meet & share stories and experiences with other mothers
  • We will be using carefully selected oils to use for this class, but if you have your own preferred oil you know your baby likes you may choose to bring it
  • At the end of the massage session we will practice some gentle Restorative Yoga Postures for yourself while cuddling your baby

We will move slowly and steadily:

  • Each week integrating massage techniques for a different part of your baby´s body 
  • The Restorative Yoga practice will also have a specific theme each week

  • Week 1 : Baby Massage for the legs and feet / Restorative Yoga for the legs, hips and lower back
  • Week 2 : Baby Massage for the chest, arms and hands / Restorative Yoga for the chest and upper back
  • Week 3 : Baby Massage for the face, head and back / Restorative Yoga for the face, neck and shoulders
  • Week 4 : Integration - going with the flow

 

 How Baby Massage benefits your baby:

Appropriate touch will support their physical, mental, emotional and social development. Specific benefits include:

  • improved absorbtion of nutrients, and supports weight gain
  • relieves emotional distress, irritability and invites relaxation

Baby massage helps you to become more familiar with your baby´s cues. As baby massage stimulates the release of the love hormone Oxytocin, it helps to support love and bonding. It supports a closeness with your baby, builds confidence in handling your baby and you will become more sensitive to your baby´s needs. This is very empowering as you grow into life together.

Who is this course for:

For Mothers, fathers, grandparent or friend of family - sharing this time together is a beautiful opportunity to bond with your baby

What to bring: 

A very large towel for your baby to lay on
Your personal oil if your baby has very sensitive skin
A beanie for your baby´s head
A small blanket to cover them

Included in the course price:

A little booklet with the massage techniques for you to take home and practice with.
Organic Oil to use during the massage: Sweet Almond or Grapeseed oil

A gentle Yoga class for both Mums & Babies in a safe and nurturing environment.
Interact, communicate, have fun and play with your baby. Realign your body & build
core strength after childbirth.The Yoga poses (asana) are chosen specifically to soothe body & mind,relieving
lower back pain & tension in neck and shoulders from nursing & carrying your baby.
A special time for you & your baby while making friends & having fun.

For Babies from 4 weeks up to almost crawling.

You may join a running course if there is space (please email me directly).  No single classes !
Please do not bring crumbly food to class. The yogamats / blankets & ANTS like it too much.

Overview

This workshop is designed to support you along side a traditional birth preparation course taught by a Midwife. It  is designed to give you theoretical and practical tools from a yoga perspective to support you physically, mentally and emotionally as you birth your baby.

Regardless if you have a vaginal or C-section birth, it is still a birth. Your active participation in birthing your baby will empower you as a woman and a mother-to be to this child. Embracing your birth as a sacred and also spiritual journey will strengthen not only you but also your bond with your baby.

This workshop will prepare you with specific yoga asana (physical postures), breathwork, meditation and visualisation techniques all of which will support you  as you birth your baby. This active participation in your birth can help to reduce the pain and fear often associated with birth. It will empower you in the birth room  to stay centered and focused where important decisions need to be made. It is my wish that it will give you the strength, courage and love to birth your baby under all circumstances.

Overview

A Workshop with Yoga Asana, Breathwork, and Meditation

In addition to traditional birth preparation courses with a midwife, yoga is a beautiful preparation for both body and mind. In this workshop, we take the time to prepare you for the upcoming birth.

Imagine:

During the birth of your baby, you are so connected to your body and your breath that you can surrender. You have no fear of the pain because you have learned how to breathe through your contractions and move your body to support the birthing process. You experience the birth consciously and feel deeply connected to yourself and your baby.

 

What to Expect at the Birth Preparation Workshop:

Yoga Asanas and Positions for Birth
Yoga is not only helpful during pregnancy but also during childbirth. In this workshop, you'll learn which yoga exercises and positions can be helpful in the various stages of birth to ease and support the process.

Breathing Techniques
Proper breathing is crucial for birth. I'll show you specific breathing techniques that can help you manage contractions better and relax during breaks to regain strength.

  • Meditation
    Meditation helps you stay calm and centered, whether your birth is smooth or challenging. It fosters a deep connection with your baby and strengthens your confidence in yourself, your body, and your child.

    Exchange and Questions About Birth
    During the "Birth Preparation with Yoga" workshop, there is time for exchange and questions about birth. You can meet with other women in the same situation, ask questions, and receive tips from other mothers and me as an experienced mother and yoga teacher.

    Additionally, you will receive a handout with exercises, affirmations, and meditations.

    Who Is This Workshop For:

    If you would like to prepare specifically for birth, this birth preparation with yoga is just right for you.
    For beginners and advanced practitioners: You don't need prior experience in yoga.
    Suitable for all stages of pregnancy: You can attend the workshop at any time during pregnancy, as the exercises can be practiced throughout.
